Phyllastrephus is a songbird genus in the family Pycnonotidae (bulbuls). They make up thetypical greenbuls, though two are named brownbuls.
This genus contains the following species:
  • Cabanis's Greenbul, Phyllastrephus cabanisi
  • Fischer's Greenbul, Phyllastrephus fischeri
  • Terrestrial Brownbul, Phyllastrephus terrestris
  • Northern Brownbul, Phyllastrephus strepitans
  • Pale-olive Greenbul, Phyllastrephus fulviventris
  • Grey-olive Greenbul, Phyllastrephus cerviniventris
  • Baumann's Olive Greenbul, Phyllastrephus baumanni
  • Toro Olive Greenbul, Phyllastrephus hypochloris
  • Cameroon Olive Greenbul, Phyllastrephus poensis
  • Grey-headed Greenbul, Phyllastrephus poliocephalus
  • Yellow-streaked Bulbul, Phyllastrephus flavostriatus
  • Tiny Greenbul, Phyllastrephus debilis
  • White-throated Greenbul, Phyllastrephus albigularis
  • Icterine Greenbul, Phyllastrephus icterinus
  • Sassi's Olive Greenbul, Phyllastrephus lorenzi
  • Liberian Greenbul, Phyllastrephus leucolepis
  • Xavier's Greenbul, Phyllastrephus xavieri
Several species from Madagascar that were formerly placed here are now separated in Bernieria and Xanthomixis. Commonly called the Bernieria and the tetrakas, they are not bulbuls but Malagasy warblers similar to greenbuls due to convergent evolution.
